Andy Tongren, singer, guitarist, actor, composer, and a true Renaissance man for the new millennium has been performing a wide variety of music and developing himself as an artist strongly over the past few years. From the early days of “Emo,” to the classic stage of the Cleveland Opera, Andy has developed his voice and stage presence into a truly dynamic, unique, and passionate performance. The past few years have found Andy touring with the band Wellington, cutting the albums, “When Skyscrapers Meet Giants,” “Please Don’t Make Me Be Good,” and his July 2007 release, “Reaching the Stars,” as well as performing live and continuing his love for Musical Theatre on many stages. “I wouldn’t change anything about my musical past because it’s turned me into the musician I am today,” says Tongren. Musical influences in Andy’s life include Count Basie, Sarah Vaughn, Frank Sinatra, Bach, Johnny Hodges, Harry Connick Jr, and Duke Ellington. Andy is becoming a true international scholar of music and the performing arts with his studies of Jazz in the heart of London at Middlesex University. Keep an eye and ear out for Andy, as he is an artist you can expect to see on the rise.

What a great debut! The whole CD has a certain air or kick about it that separates it from other jazzers, and that makes it exciting to listen to. However, at the same time songs like besame mucho and two sleepy people show Tongrens ability to croon. Also, what a wonderful band! I definately recommend it! A really great start, I'm excited to see where he goes with his next CD!
