ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I’m sure the detailed and lengthy story we could tell about Hypnophonic is way, way to long for any casual reader, so here is a little about ourselves and the Hypnophonic project.

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far away the Ahmed brothers got tired of playing piano for hours at a time daily and decided to check out other instruments. Sami was the first to test the waters and pick up a cheap Jasmine Acoustic Guitar at the local Sam Ash. Contempt with playing a few Greenday songs and little jingles, he moved onward to a Fender Jazz Bass. His brother Sharif (Feef) followed suit, and picked up the jasmine with the words: “If only I was as talented as Sami” (not really).

Feef quickly adapted to his new instrument and went deeper and deeper into the depths of guitar hell. Soon enough, the two brothers were playing a few tunes with a drummer down the street. At this baby stage of their playing, Sami and Feef wrote a few memorable tunes on their Tascam 8-track analog recorder. Around this time, they came along Scott Bannevich of the local Music Showcase. The brothers and Scott practiced weekly and started to establish confidence in each of their instruments. Next, Sami and Feef learned to sing (with the aid of Scott) and grew better and better at the art of songwriting.

So, after a few years and drummers, here we are with a brand new and talented drummer named Joe Coyle. If you are interested in getting guitar/bass lessons from the best of the best, contact Scott Bannevich at scottbannevich.com
