Album Notes

Auralgasms third compilation CD, entitled "Breath Of Stars", brings you a great mix of up-and-coming and established musicians in the genres of Dreampop, Triphop and Shoegazing.

Artist include Sleepthief (featuring Kristy Thirsk), Lou Rhodes (lead singer of Lamb), Kirsty Hawkshaw, The Trashcan Sinatras, The Daysleepers and much more.

Quotes from the Chicago Star Newspaper:

"Songs that entrance and transport the listener to a beautiful aural space that's difficult to describe, but haunting in its impact."

"This is quite simply a collection to dream to, filled with warm and fuzzy guitar songs, rich ethereal synthesizer tapestries, and astonishing vocalists singing familiar themes of love and loss that reverberate with timelessness."

"Breath of Stars" offers some of the most entrancing music being crafted today."

01. Sleepthief - Sublunar (ft. Kristy Thirsk)

Sleepthief's melancholy but heavenly track "Sublunar (Sweet Angel)" features the inimitable vocals of Kristy Thirsk, cinematic strings, ambient pulses and subtle grooves.

02. Costanza - I've Been Waiting For you

Trip-hop guru and former Massive Attack member TRICKY referred to Costanza as a ‘female version of me’ and he called her to guest with him as vocalist and songwriter on his most recent works. International press has called her 'Tricky's new inspirational muse' and referenced her to such respected female artists as Bjork and PJ Harvey. Born in Italy and recently relocated in New York City , COSTANZA FRANCAVILLA is a multidisciplinary artist: singer/songwriter/composer/multi-instrumentalist and producer Costanza creates minimalist electronic underwater compositions that swim in airy melodic spaces and dance with liquid evocative vocals and hypnotic beats "i've been waiting for you" is included on her debut Ep "ZerOKilled" ep and was featured on CSI Episode "Compulsion"

03. Halou - Albatross

Heavenly Dreampop from San Francisco courtesy of Ryan and Rebecca Coseboom. Albatross began as a ‘lost track’ that nearly made the album ‘Wholeness & Separation’. Though it didn’t fit on that album, it gained a new life on its own and has since become a fan favorite. Halou is currently recording their fourth record for release later in 2007.

04. In-flight Safety - Lost (The March Song)

Melodic and anthemic atmospheric pop evoking the best parts of Coldplay and Sigur Ros? Sound unlikely, give this band 6 minutes and you’ll be dreaming, swooning, bobbing your head, and singing along.

05. Pilot Speed - Alright

"Heart-wrenching," "sweepingly-epic," "meticulously-crafted," "virtuoso-caliber," and "poetry-like" are but a few of hyphenate accolades used to describe Pilot Speed and their explosive American debut INTO THE WEST. Todd Clark’s soaring vocals highlight this Toronto band’s emotional ballads and powerful anthems.

06. The Meeting Places - Until It's Gone

A dreamy tune from the LA Noise Pop quartets’ follow-up to 2003’s Find Yourself Along The Way. Numbered Days delivers more of the same pop hooks layered with fuzzy guitars.

07. The Daysleepers - Loved By The Sun

This band eases our hearts and minds and lets us know that the Shoegaze aesthetic has not been lost on the new crop of bands. It is alive and well in Buffalo, NY. The Soft Attack EP is at once hazy, dreamy and infectious.

08. Ether Aura - Crash

Ether Aura will likely please shoegazers, goths, and alt rockers alike. A heaping portion of Curve with smaller parts Lush, Garbage, and Cocteau Twins - an atmospheric slice of female-fronted, shoegaze-infused alt rock permeated by effects-laden guitar work....produced with apparent attention to sonic layering and detail, it's a blend of more straightforward, bass-driven alt rock skeletal structures and swirling atmospheric guitar.

09. Honeybreath - Mayfly

then there are those moments in between, The weightless moments between bliss and despair. Sweet and consuming and uncomfortable, Like breathing honey...

10. Trashcan Sinatras - All The Dark Horses

Weightlifting saw these Scottish tunesmiths return with their first full length in 8 years. The record is lush, harmonic and introspective showing they haven’t missed a beat since they burst onto the Indie scene in the late 80’s.

11. Sky Project - Thankyou

Sky’s heartfelt vocals and Vlad’s electro-acoustic rhythms drive this ethereal pop tune

12. Lou Rhodes - Why

One of Ethereal Dreampop’s most beloved voices. Lou Rhodes, formally of Triphop legends Lamb steps out on her sparsely beautiful solo debut.

13. Ethos - Late Last Life

This Swirling Sonic Detroit band’s songwriter and vocalist Christian Burke see Ethos as being something that can unite people and bring those with similar interests together. Alternative Press stated "Ethos could inspire Morrissey and Marr to reunite"

14. Kirsty Hawkshaw - Healing Angel

Beloved Ethereal Electronica vocalist Kirsty Hawkshaw was greatly privileged to meet the great French DJ Arnold Toutain who sent her the track Healing Angel to work on. "I heard it and was touched by the idea of it. Being a female in this business can be quite tough sometimes and I was a bit fragile when he sent it to me. It's magical how sometimes in life things can be presented to you to help get through a difficult situation, always at the right time. All it takes is a little faith. Arnold was my Angel during that time and I love the song very much"

15. Moev - A Thousand Lashes

The Vancouver Darkwave pioneers make their long awaited return. With Julie Ferris onboard as lead vocalist, Tom Ferris and Dean Cook deliver their signature pulsing synth sound for the first time in 8 years. A full length record is scheduled for 2007.

16. Neverending White Lights - Return Our Lives

A haunting groovy little tune featuring Judah Nagler (Velvet Teen) on vocals. Daniel Victor has hit the ball out of the park on his debut featuring a dozen different modern rock vocalists from Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, Alexisonfire, 311, Ours, Hum, Creeper Lagoon, The Watchmen, The Black Maria, Shudder To Think, Age Of Electric, Supergarage, The Velvet Teen and more.

17. Hotel De Ville - Celestial Call

Hotel de Ville is a London based electro-cinematic project from composer and vocalist Rhett Brewer. Mix equal parts other-worldly voice and down-tempo percussion and add orchestra and a healthy dose of 60’s back-street Paris to taste. As much music as a place, Hotel de Ville is quiet seduction and contemplative escape. Celestial Call is from the self-titled album Hotel de Ville released in 2006.
