Album Notes

"Avers creates a space uniquely his but capable of working with the smoky streets of Astor Piazzolla's Buenos Aires and the samba-filled clubs of Sergio Assad's Rio. The composers inhabit his interpretations and are enhanced by them." - Guitarra Magazine

"AVERS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPRESSIVE ARTISTS I CAME ACROSS IN THE LAST FEW YEARS." -Sergio Assad, Sony recording Artist/composer (1999)

I recorded this album during my junior year at the Oberlin Conservatory. It was through the insistance of Stephen Aron that I make a full-length recording that year for which I am eternally grateful. For weeks, my sound engineer and I would begin our work after the Con closed making takes, adjusting microphones and drinking awful french vanilla vending machine coffee. When all was said and done, we came up with VISTAS.

Although the CD can be loosly tied together "Music of the America's", it contains some of the most infamous/memerable music performed on classical guitar that decade... my favorite guitar music of that time.

I hope you enjoy the recording, and please let me what you think.

All the best,
Randall Avers (1-2007)
