Soulful, Soothing, Sublime

I am not a big Jazz person. Chernick’s CD kind of fell into my lap and I was amazed at how much I loved it when I ended up listening. Now I can't stop! I listen to the album ALL the time. I listen when I cook. I listen when I write. I listen when I am getting ready in the morning. There is something soulful and calming and inspiring about this velvety voice. It uplifts the spirit. Unlike anything I have ever heard before. The Medley is particularly moving. This would make an awesome Chanukah gift for anyone who loves and appreciates good music.

This album is pure joy! It has not budged from my CD carousel since I first bought In the Sea one year ago. Aviva Chernick's mellifluous voice will remind you of early Judy Collins. Her soulful, soaring way with interpretation is where Norah Jones meets kd lang. The final medley combining Hannah Senesh with folk spirituals is utterly inspired.
