Album Notes

In an age of me-too soundalikes, Adventures With Alice dares to be different. Eschewing the mainstream, they plow their own furrow with a distinctive sound that's all their own and refuses to be pigeon-holed into any one genre. Rock, blues, jazz, ballad; any style of song is welcomed to the party by Adventures With Alice. The line-up follows the non-conformity mantra. They're not a stellar collection of journeyman technicians, but neither are they a marketer's wet dream of hot young things ripe for the promotional video. Rather, they're an express train from youth to maturity, and many stations in between, delivering honest, energy-filled performances on songs that have unforgettable hooks and lyrics that are stories.

From the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia, Adventures With Alice was formed early in 2008 by songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Debbie Rollason and spent 2008 recording their debut album, Stereo In The Mono Age. The album, recorded by Russell Nelson at RUMA Records, Beecroft, NSW, launched in January 2009 and the band have been playing live in support of the release, demonstrating an energy and sense of fun that is infectious.

Debbie has been playing and writing for many years, but this is her first album release. Mark has earned his stripes playing jazz and blues piano both in the UK and Australia and brings his amazing ear and interpretation to Debbie's songs. Jester also plays with Sydney band The Sidetracked Fiasco. His distinctive drumming provides a solid base for the band to build on, ably supported by Bryce's bluesy, melodic bass playing. Jess is a classically-trained musician who plays horns as well as guitar and keyboards on stage with equal ability.
