The sound of A Whisper in the Noise falls somewhere between Godspeed You Black Emperor, Peter Gabriel, and Joy Division... a mix of 80's moody keyboard pop and modern orchestrated brilliance. The ensemble consists of six members performing on violin, cello, french horn, electric bass, drums, piano, and vocals. Steve Albini recorded their first album, "Through the Ides of March." His band, Shellac, has continued to help A Whisper in the Noise by inviting them to play festivals such as All Tomorrow's Parties in the UK.

wonderful atmospheric sounds and catching voice
author: Vienska
I got to know this band through a former boyfriend of mine, and I guess it is one of the best things I took out of this relationship. Through the Ides of March is a wonderful album. The tense dark atmosphere is created by minimalistic but yet powerful sounds. The voice invites you to join them on a journey to the very dark spots of your soul and while listening you can reflect upon the truth in life and the essentials. a few touched strings and pianosounds add up to the complete experience and I can only recommend it highly, even though language limitations don't allow me to write a extended review.
Go listen and you'll know what I am talking about =)
