Album Notes

Axel Herr is a German virtuoso pianist and composer. His musical vita started as young teenager when he was playing the piano in a boogie band. But as he has actually never been interested in playing other people\'s music he soon started composing his own works. With his early classical piano etudes he even won a composition contest at the age of 15!
Later on Axel Herr developped a very special and unique improvisation style on his piano combining jazz and classical elements. Though he is playing piano for almost 30 years now, he dislikes live performances and touring. Only good friends will have the rare chance to experience one of his extraordinary improvisation performances.

\"The Voice Of December\" was his second production recorded in winter 2000/2001. All tracks featured on this album were played in a live-style atmosphere straight to disk without any overdubs! In 2007 the label Tunimedia discovered the music and signed Axel Herr for an online-only re-release of these unique, exceptional improvisations.

Wonderful impros

I found this album by accident (have not heard of Axel Herr before), but it is great. If you like piano impros à la Keith Jarrett you will likely enjoy this album. I call this kind of music "sit'n'listen" music - it's no music you can play in the background for home work etc. I am wondering: where is volume I? Once again: one of my personal new discoveries!
