Album Notes

The duo, which calls itself AXIOM, takes a well balanced approach to its performance style. Black Root, an actor, poet, and lyricist is an avid student of the Hip-Hop culture who always steps on stage with the energy necessary to move the crowd, and experience to know that he can do so. Wordslave, actor, poet, vocalist, and lyricist, adds the talent of singing to the equation which gives the group a soulful versatility that helps set them apart from other Hip-Hop groups.

'Heat Rises' Is a sophomore effort with superb production by Raw Tech Studios, J-Who?, Wendel Patrick,Ridiculous Reeplay, T.R.I.B.E, LLC, Street Radio, & Verede Grace Studios.

There are an infinite number of influences but the list includes the likes of Outkast, Cee-lo, KRS-1, Rakim, Mos Def & Talib Kweli, Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, De La Soul, Kanye West, MC Lyte, Jay-Z, Dead Prez, Notorious B.I.G, Busta Rhymes, 2Pac, Phonetic Armageddon, The Roots, Wyclef Jean, Common, and A Tribe Called Quest just to name a few.

These 2 Maryland Natives are not only students of quality music, they also help to provide it.

Well, well, well. They done it again ya'll. Root and Words back on the follow up album bring even more fire than the first. That's saying a lot. Give it a listen and then pass it on. Don't keep it to yourself, that would be a mistake!!

Pure Talent!!!!

Hip Hop is not dead!!! These two artists are definitely the living testimoney to that. They are accepting the torch that many Hip Hop artists passed on to them. They are just "Pure Talent!!!!" Their style of music is not to mess with, and that is because they understand the foundation of Hip Hop, which is expression of inner feelings and message that reflect our overall culture. Their stories connect with any and every individual that listens to them. I challenge you to grab the album and listen to it from the beginning to the end. When you listen to it, I ask you to close your eyes and relax. By the end of the first song, I'll bet you anything that you will involuntarily move your neck muscles slowly with the beat. Before you know it, you're on your feet breakdancing... If you are into the new "southern hip hop", this may not be for you. This is strictly for old school Hip Hoppers "The real HIP HOP" lovers. I mean music that touches every aspect of life. A music with message. They cover everything from politics to everday life struggle to relationships. They make you appriciate HIP HOP with their unique lyrics and poetic talent. Their deliverence is sick. Don't even let me start with their performance. I had the opportunity to watch them perfom in Baltimore. The energy they bring to the stage is outrageous. You can't help but move with the beat of the music. They give you the Hip Hop version of "Holy ghost"!!!!
