Axminster- Retro Fits

If you remember the Boston rock scene of the early 80's, then you might have hung out at clubs like The Channel, Bunratty’s or Jumpin’ Jack Flash. If you watched videos on V66 and listened to WBCN’s local “Top Ten”, WAAF's "Bay State Rock" or Sound Check on WHJY- and read magazines like Boston Rock, The Beat, Metronome and Sweet Potato, and you followed the local rock scene then you probably heard of the band Axminster. Despite local radio hits, a solid live show and a dedicated following, the band never got the “major deal” it had worked so hard for.

Raised on bands like Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, The Sweet and Grand Funk Railroad, fans of melodic 80's hard rock will appreciate the "Van Halen" like licks of lead guitarist Benny Fiorentino, the "Steve-Tyler-esque" vocal style of lead singer Steve Sera and the "Machine Gun" kicks n' snares of drummer Mike Lamm.
Bassist Danny Callan and guitarist Mike Mosca crunch-out the rhythm section that ripped Axminster through the club scene and rocketed them onto the radio.

Retro Fits dusts off the vinyl and rewinds the tape! It's a 10-track compilation of the best recorded songs by the band from 1983 to 1986. It’s the first full collection of vintage tracks and includes Teenage Livin’, the #1 local song that launched the band into the 1984 WBCN “Rumble”, and became their first of 3 number one local hits.

Only Stranger, Eye on You, Rock and Roll Infection and Hands Wettin’ the Wheel all made their way onto the airwaves and it rounds out the bands first 5 tracks of bone crunching, guitar driven rock. The last 5 tracks, include live recordings and several never released re-mastered gems and live licks from 86’.

"It’s the album from the 80’s that we never got to make”! says singer and guitarist Steve Sera. “Although we took a break from playing as a band for a decade or so, we got back together and recorded some new material over the last 10 years. We thought it would be a good idea to put out a CD with our favorite Axminster material from back in the day at the same time we were releasing our new original CD titled about face”. “Now anyone that is interested can visit our my space page and check out everything we have recorded together as a band in one place.”

The band released their new CD titled- about face and several years ago released "Territory" an experimental 8-song CD as the band KTD. Both CD's are available here at CD Baby and you can visit the band at:
