In the fast-changing, oversaturated world of independent hip-hop, only the tough—and the true—artists survive. After a much-heralded album last year with Bay Area producer DJ Zeph, emcee, poet and actor Azeem is set to release his third solo LP Air Cartoons (Oaklyn Records). A mix of fun, insightful lyrics over tripped out sometimes unpredictable beats, proving that Azeem listens to the beat of his own drum.
