Album Notes

"When can I start playing it? (a review) "
Dave Marsh of “Lust Never Sleeps,” Track 9

“BAAMO has once again assembled an awesomely eclectic, thematically united compilation disc that triumphantly spotlights the best of Tampa Bay’s killer — yet still underappreciated — music scene. These lusty 18 tracks terrifically rep the region’s top singer/songwriters, alt-country ensemble, indie rockers and pop purveyors. There’s not a bad song in the bunch, but if I had to pick one that I just can’t get out of my head it’s the previously unreleased “Dirty” (Track 1) by Rebekah Pulley & the Reluctant Prophets. A sublime slice of organic pop, it’s wonderfully catchy and highly seductive. Special props are also in order for Rich Whitely, Have Gun, Will Travel, Ronny Elliott, The Ditchflowers, The Beauvilles, Mojo Gurus, Military Junior, Ted Lukas and Roppongi’s Ace.” Wade Tatangelo, St. Petersburg Times Music Correspondent

Have Gun, Will Travel (Track 3): . "Their music has a great energy to it with some infectious, sing-along choruses and refrains." Robin Hilton, NPR Host

Ronny Elliott (Track 9): Ronny was humbled to be rated #5 Best Songwriter by the Freeform American Roots (FAR) DJs in their annual survey of the scene, right behind Hayes Carll and Arty Hill and right before Rodney Crowell and Alejandro Escovedo. (FAR “Best Of 2008” results published by 3rd Coast Music)

“Back to Boogaloo,” the 2008 CD from Rebekah Pulley & the Reluctant Prophets (Track 1) racked up accolades, including Debut Album of the Year by 3rd Coast Music (John Conquest), TOP 20 CDs of 2008 by both KRVM in Eugene, OR & WMNF in Tampa, FL and “Best Career Milestone” by the editors of Creative Loafing Tampa.

The Beauvilles have done the near impossible: score an official showcase at South-By-Southwest (SXSW) as an unsigned band. Their firing squad video for “Snow" (Track 6) has nearly 9,000 views on Youtube and is being aired on FUSE TV & MtvU Brighthouse Networks as well as web-based sites. They shouldn’t stay unsigned for long.
