Album Notes

Baba Brinkman began his rap career at nineteen, freestyling and writing songs in his hometown of Vancouver, Canada. He is a former tree-planter who worked in the Rocky Mountains of B.C. every summer for ten years, personally planting over one million trees.

During his development as an MC he also completed both a B.A. with Honours from Simon Fraser University and an M.A. in Medieval and Renaissance English Literature from the University of Victoria. His thesis drew parallels between the worlds of rap music and literary poetry.

In the summer of 2004, Baba toured his hit theatre show, "The Rap Canterbury Tales" to seven cities around the world, including Prague, Montreal, Edinburgh and San Francisco. In the spring of 2005 he was sponsored by Cambridge University to tour schools across England, performing for over sixteen hundred students in over thirty schools.

Since 2004 he has toured almost constantly with "The Rap Canterbury Tales" including a tour of Southern Australia, a college campus tour of the USA that included Harvard, and frequent returns to the UK. With his UK connections, Baba recently recorded his third independent full-length LP, "Lit-Hop", featuring twelve original songs co-produced with UK hip-hop artists.

"The Rap Canterbury Tales" has also been recorded as an audio CD and published as an illustrated paperback by Vancouver's Talon Books, Canada's premier independent literary press.

In 2007, Baba founded the indie record label Lit Fuse Records and signed Aaron Nazrul, Vancouver's hottest up-and-coming singer/songwriter. Aaron’s debut full-length album, “Butterfly Man” is due for release in December 2007.

When he is not touring, Baba Brinkman resides in Vancouver.
