This two-disc sequel to No Harm Done, Coquette continues to mix and match the songs of Johnny Green with those of his award-winning songwriter daughter, Babbie, and her musical partner of ten years, John Boswell. Two of the elder Green's six songs here are known to many, worldwide (I Wanna Be Loved and You're Mine, You! ... certainly one of the most egregiously un-PC lyrics ever! ... ; the other four are equally luscious, although not all that well known. In fact, this is the very first recording of You Brought Me To My Senses, written in 1939 by Johnny Green and Benny Davis, who must have had Fred Astaire in mind (just listen!). Since Johnny Green, His Piano and His Orchestra are on some of the most treasured of Astaire's earliest recordings, it was a reasonable wish, although unfulfilled. Like Monday Follows Sunday was commissioned by the BBC in 1933, for its first ever radio musical. It showed up over twenty years later, with recycled lyrics, in the Marge and Gower Champion film musical, Everything I have Is Yours. Oceans Of Time, and Weep No More, My Baby, were written for British West End musical comedy star, Jack Buchanan, in the 1933 (what a year!) musical, Mr. Whittington. The rest of the thirty tracks here are written by Babbie Green, two of them with John Boswell (The PC Song and SIlver Forest). As with its prequel, this CD begins with an instrumental overture (How Should I Remember You?), which sets the stage for the musical journey ahead ... the adventures of a relationship, from soup to nuts, as it were. Arranging, orchestrating, and keyboard duties were shared by Babbie and Boswell. There is a wonderful balance here among heart, humor, and brains, as the listener takes a journey full of unexpected twists and turns. And it is indeed a collection of timeless songs, dating from 1933 (the year also of Body And Soul, which is actually up for a Best Duet Grammy this year!) to the present. The songs in this collection chose each other, and seamlessly weave quite a tale. One listener
