Album Notes

Three years after debut album 'Communication Overdue', Leicestershire singer-songwriter Ian Babington returns with its sequel, 'Heartlands'. With a new depth and breadth to its subject matter, the same melodic sensibility as before, and with added harmonies and lead guitars on two songs from long-time collaborator Pete Raj, the CD documents Ian's continued evolution as a thoughtful, tuneful songwriter.

The title song is autobiographical - a series of events (reunions, funerals and journeys) leading to a nostalgic 'lovesong' to the hometown of his early years. Other songs touch on loves lost, gained and imagined, and duet 'Easy Now' has garnered great comments on review sites such as Slicethepie, and is being covered by several artists on the local Leicester scene.

The years since 'Communication Overdue' have seen Ian's career progress in leaps and bounds, with airplay (and sales) around the world, and gigs all across the UK including prestigious support slots. It's been a great journey - thanks for finding the music, and welcome aboard!
