The Cyclin' Cowboy Surfers was a group of musicians that would ride their cycles to the beach everyday to surf. One of their fans called them The Cyclin'Cowboy Surfers and the name stuck. At night they would play all the local surf clubs life The Surf and Turf. The band had a big local following and recorded several albums that became local hits. This collection of instrumental surf songs is from newly found recordings of the group, recorded not long befor their dissapearence that August night so many years ago. Autually "The Lost Tapes"....is a tribute to all those great instrumental surf bands of the early 60's.The spirit of the music is maintained with better production and musicianship.I know you will enjoy this CD.

Remember the opening surf song from "Pulp Fiction"? This band counts that songwriter, Dick Dale, as one of its main influences, and it shows. The intelligent and dynamic songwriting stands out in a genre known for hits and misses. It's 60's surf with a modern twist and from a ficticious band created by Barry Bachman.

Guessing from a few hints in the liner notes, Barry Bachman is from New Jersey or somewhere nearby. The music here is Ventures country with an eye on the beach, but aside from a few stray glissandoes, there's no surf here. Barry Bachman plays all the instruments, so it lacks the chemistry of a band. Some of the tracks are very listenable, just don't expect any surf.
