"Simmer On" is packed with 16 fabulous songs, each recorded, mixed, and mastered to perfection.
Comes Love, Exactly Like You, and All of Me are jazz standards done with a toe tapping swing and feature the honeyed vocals of Karen Story. Karen also sings a Patsy Cline standard (South of the Border), David Mallet's gorgeous ballad "Summer of My Dreams," Emmy Lou Harris' trademark "Blue Kentucky Girl," bluegrass standard "I Wonder Where You Are Tonight," and the irresistible "Ain't She Sweet."
The Back Burner "boys" are the featured vocalists on the remaining tunes, which include several bluegrass standards, four original tunes (two are instrumentals), and an a'capella song with four part harmonies that will give you goosebumps.
The Back Burner guys and gal all have many years of experience in bluegrass and other musical genres. The band was founded in 1990 by Loren Postma (Dobro and vocals), and Lou Allen (Guitar and vocals). They are joined by Brad Hull (Bass, Fiddle and vocals), Dave Campbell (Banjo, Bass and vocals), Al Bergstein (Mandolin and vocals), and Karen Story (vocals and percussion).
Loren Postma met Lou Allen in 1990. They hit it off, started jamming together in the back room of Lou's video store, and have been playing together ever since. Over the years they grew into Back Burner, a tight-knit group of musical friends who mostly play for fun. While they're doing their day jobs and other activities, the music is simmering on the back burner, but when they get together to play, they turn the fire up under the kettle and get the soup really going.
Back Burner uses standard bluegrass instruments, but they go beyond the traditional bounds of bluegrass and add swing, jazz, country, and originals to the stew. They hope you enjoy savoring their music as much as they enjoyed cooking it up.

Excellent Music
author: Peter Marchand
Back Burner's "Simmer On" is one of the best accoustic albums I've listened to in the last few years. Excellent musicians knowing how to play their instruments, extraordinary vocals and the right feeling for good music. I love the songs with Karen Story's vocals but also the other band members are pretty good singers. Beside the cover songs there is very fine songwriting and composing by members of the band. My favourite of of the Band's own songs is "That's What Love's All About" by Lou Allen - very fine songwriting! But all titles on this CD are worth to be listened to. I highly recommend to buy this CD!
