Backside Pick is a nine piece funk band from Denton, Texas consisting of jazz students and alumni from The University of North Texas. By Infusing funky danceable rhythm, infectious lyrics, combined with meaningful hooks, they have inspired positive vibrations to audiences nation wide. The horn line is powerful to reminisce Tower of Power, grooves are fat and in the pocket like Sly, lyrics tell stories like Stevie Wonder, and harmonic element implies that of Jamiroquai and modern jazz techniques. Rocky Ottley is the composer and arranger for the group and the group contributes each of their musical and personal elements to create what we know to be Backside Pick.
