Album Notes

Like a singing bluebird wandering through the prairie, Backwords delivers gentle, lazy melodies that stick to the tongue and cannot be forgotten. And like a vigilant hawk nesting atop a New York City skyscraper, there is a fury - a darker side that Backwords is capable of exploring on the drop of a dime. Backwords blends modern psychedelics with folk rock, 50s pop and other sonic surprises. Based out of Brooklyn and Philadelphia, Backwords is rooted in city grit but always keeps a cowboy’s heart. Layered voices overlap and ring out, slide guitars reach for the moon, drums chug like a choo-choo, telecasters twang, and upright bass and organ hum it all together.

I've always been impressed with Backwords, especially the live shows, but this album takes it to a whole new level. The music and lyrics pierce your soul and open you up to a higher consciousness.
