notes
The Bad News Blues Band has been gaining a reputation for house burning live performances all over the United States as well as Canada, Mexico, Turkey, Romania and even Moscow Russia! With their latest ARV Records release, "Knockout!" produced by Texas Blues Legend Andrew "Jr. Boy" Jones, they're set to hit the road and spread the word with the fire and intensity that their live shows are renowned for worldwide.
In the nine years since the band was formed they have won many local and regional awards including first place in the 1997 and 2002 Arizona Blues Shootout. Winning the shoot out earned them a spot at the International Blues and talent competition in Memphis Tennessee sponsored by the Blues Foundation. The band has the distinct honor of being the first blues band ever to be added to the artist roster for the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.
They have also been honored by the Tucson Area Music Awards for several years with Best Blues Band '98 '99 '00 '01, Hardest Working Band '99 '01 '02, Electric Guitar '99 '00 '01, Male Vocalist '00 '02, Horn Player '00 '01 '02, Bass Player '99 '00 '02 and Best Drummer '01 '02.
After touring at length with Texas guitar legend Long John Hunter, The Bad News Blues Band is making a name for themselves with upcoming performances, club dates and festivals across the country.
This band is on the move with a smoking hot rhythm section, sweet smoldering horns, blistering guitar, and an impressive frontline of dynamic vocals, that is sure to Knock You Out!

Truly talented musicians with awesome tight music that rocks.
author: DeclanThis CD typifies the awesome musicianship of all the band. Saw them in Kinsale this year (05) with a slightly different line up but this CD is representative of the excitement they create live on stage.Being a sax player myself I understand the technicalities and the skill of the brass players - brilliant !
It hurts to have to agree with a Frenchman...
author: GeoffIt's seriously painful for an Englishman to have to agree with a Frenchman, but every word Benoit says is true. I was in Kinsale in October '05 and I'm still cryin'. This is a great record by a fabulous band. Can't wait for these guys to visit again and for the next CD - make it soon please!
truly the greatest band in the world, they burn the place down every night
author: Benoit ViellefonI'm a french musician and I 've been around quite a lot, but when my band went to share the bill with the bad news for 5 days in Kinsale Jazz & blues Festival in Ireland in 2005 I was not ready for such a shock. I have not recovered yet and it's not only about drinking guinnes with the guys. Those guys are the best band in the world, not kidding, they burned the club down every single night. From the first note they play, the crowds go crazy and the musicians start crying... I was amazed, that was the biggest musical revelation I had in my life. They are awsome, they play anything from blues to funk, to soul, to louie jordan to what you want and more with great feel and devastating sense of humour. They also are brilliant showmen and I could not stop dancing in front of the stage every single night with my jaws cleaning the floor. They are truly the GREATEST BAND I have seen IN THE WORLD and every single musician is exceptional. You have to buy all their cds in 5 copies minimum to offer them to your friends and you will contribute to make the world a better place. I know that they are preparing a new album, watch this space. Benoit Viellefon
high energy blues!!
author: dezzSaw the band at Snowbird in Utah - had to have some. They are Great!
See them in person in Kinsale, Ireland
author: phclubRecently visited Kinsale, Ireland during the local Jazz festival. My wife and I happened upon this band at Muddy Mahers Pub and we couldn't get enough of their music. The music is original, nothing like it and it does get those feet tappin.
This One's A Definite For Any Collection
author: Matt ShinaThis disc is killer. If this doesn't get your heart pumpin' or your toes tappin' you've got serious issues. One of the tightest horn sections you'll ever hear.
Best Kept Secret In Blues
author: Dave bundaHow lucky I was to see their show. The Bad News Blues Band and their KnockOut CD has to be the best kept secret of Arizona and the Southwest US. This band is very talented and fun. Their CD is easily on my Top 10 list.
Music Collection Not Complete without Bad News Blues Band
author: Az Tourist NewsA great toe tappin sound where blues meets big band. ~ Az Tourist News
This band is an essential for any blues fan!
author: Aylyffe HinesThis CD is one of the most powerful blues albums I have heard in years. From Johnny Guitar's licks and soulful vocals to the Reverend Vegas' wailing sexophone, and driven by Chip Ritter's powerhouse drumming, this is an album that will make your ears smoke!
This is great stuff, if you like high energy blues/funk you'll dig it.
author: Kirk EdwardsI'm not good at reviews, but here goes, The sound quality and production is high end, the songs are all catchy, and I really enjoyed the funk song Do You Like It, Yes I do. Suprised at the musicianship level for a blues band this is rare. Very cool. The only draw back is they don't many enough "old school" blues songs, but thats a small thing. out of 10 I give it a 9. well worth the price.
