Album Notes

Bad Side is a hard rock band - plain and simple. In the true "classic" style. Influenced by the greats - Aerosmith, KISS, Bob Seger, Nugent, Scorpions, and more!

Bad Side is Melissa "Lissa" Krahnke on Lead Vocals, Piano and keys and Jason Mapes on all guitars and backing vocals. In the studio, Rich Blair supplied the bass and Dan Furmanik performed all the drums, some bass and some backing vocals.

Their debut CD was released in 2005 (also available at www.cdbaby.com/all/badside) and received rave reviews!

The new CD - Bad Side II features mixes by MULTI-PLATINUM Producer, Beau Hill! (the man behind Ratt, Winger, Warrant and more!) Beau approached the band about working together and the band was eager to add Beau's Platinum touch to their new CD.

Check out the song samples and see why this CD has been called - "one of the most solid rock albums of 2007" (review for Bad Side II at www.shipwreckislandstudios.com)

If you like your rock to kick ass with a little class..then Bad Side is for you!

why is this band not signed to a major label
author: gary keller
This band just keeps getting better. if i had a record label, i would sign this band immediately. They are truly 100 times better than the garbage mtv/fuse/vh1 is promoting today.i would say this is the best album of 2007 and possibly of 2008 as well. it has something for everybody just like their last album. This band desrves to be bigger than the beatles and the stones combined. They got the determination, talent, and the heart, everything that it takes to be legends in the music business. i would most definitely say if you have not heard of this band. both albums are a must buy, if your a music lover.

One of the most solid rock albums of 2007!!
author: SHipwreck Island Studios
From start to finish Bad Side II will go down as one of the most solid rock albums of 2007. Things start off at such a high energy that it's hard to believe just how well the flow of this album is. Jason and Melissa have done an amazing job of placing each and every track in at the right moment of the album so just when it feels like things are about to level out the band come firing back with a variety of different elements to keep everything exciting. The perfect combination considering that Jason Mapes is one of the most technically proficient guitarists in the rock scene today. His playing is so refreshing to hear since he can basically improvise a guitar riff and add in the right amount of influences the likes of Eddie Van Halen or Ace Frehley all the while not wandering from his own style. Then there is the other factor in the equation in the form of Melissa Krahnke who can match Jason in delivery and stamina. Her voice alone can bring forth so many emotions which is insane to hear considering that here is a front woman who can hold her very own in an actual rock band. She gives a majority of other singers, both male and female, a run for their money. Mix those two elements together along with coherent songwriting and the final result is a killer dose of high octane rock 'n' roll. Just in case anyone missed Bad Side's introduction on Bad Side I it's with Bad Side II that Jason and Melissa take what they've done on the first album and integrated it with a much more consistent writing style on the new disc. The songwriting on this album is so unbelievably good that it's stunning to hear a independent band able to write creative material that doesn't only leave you in a state of awe but you can also hear how they've managed to blend it with hooks that are executed with razor sharp precision. Every song can tap into that KISS or Aerosmith influence with ease but still retains a sound that is still very much vintage Bad Side. So many other groups out there that try to embrace those legendary bands usually end up falling flat on their faces because they're mostly borrowing a certain detail without adding anything of their own to incorporate into their so called sound. Another reason I think that Bad Side is able to breathe new life into rock is mainly because they know how to harness some contemporary values directly into their sound so it comes off with just the right amount of power behind it. It doesn't sound too dated but it doesn't have any radical modern elements the likes of down tuned guitars or vocals that are delivered from a depressing state of mind. The fact that a legend the likes of Beau Hill heard something in Bad Side's sound proves that this band has a very bright future ahead of them. The final mixes do in fact really put this album over in terms of everything that makes a impressive rock release. If you're looking for a band that can combine powerful guitar solos with out of this world vocals I don't think you have to look that far. For those of us who got to know Bad Side since the beginning of their voyage to rock stardom you won't disappointed at what they have delivered in this final product. It is simply the best outing from them to date as the songwriting chemistry between Mapes and Kranhke has come full circle. For songwriters in a band you need to click just right in order to write a song that will draw emotions and move people and to hear Bad Side really starting to come into their own it's those factors that will take them further as they continue on over the natural progression of a career. Bad Side have reached that point in their career that while their still making a name for themselves they have managed to hit the tip of the iceberg so to speak with one amazing rock album and I think it's safe to say that there is still more on the way from this incredible band. So if you still haven't checked them out you need to do so right now. You can't ignore them when they have help from a man who has involved with helping sell around 50 million albums worldwide. In my opinion Bad Side is one of the hottest independent rock bands in the scene today that are definitely up to challenging themselves time and time again. If you've been missing out on what hard rock is supposed to sound like now is the time to do something about it by looking into Bad Side. It's my promise to you that you won't be disappointed with what you hear.
