Detroit's music scene has edge, grit, and an ecclectic love for all forms of rock. The Badways have etched their way into the scene in a big way with their upbeat, crowd-pleasing sound-- think guitars from the 80's, a voice from the 50's, and a beat from the 70's. My favorites: New Religion and Leave Her Alone.

Sounds like an updated 60s rock band!
author: Jessica Mousseau - From The Garage
Best described as happy garage rock by the Detroit News, Motor City's The Badways, sounds most like an updated 60s rock band. The Badways combine traditional Detroit sounds such as a solid White Stripes' like guitar with the sweet harmonic sounds like the Beach Boys in their cd, “Leave Her Alone.” The disc contains 12 tracks with extraordinary mastered catchy tracks recorded at Ferndale 's Tempermill Studios in August 2004.
The band consists of Todd Luneack on vocals and lead guitar, Mike Thomas on Guitars, Vocals and percussion, Dave Webster on drums and percussion and Tom Webster on bass and vocals. Each song has members doing various instruments or guest vocalists, which highlights the true talent of the four.
‘Motor City Girl,' whom the band dedicates their cd to, can be assumed a hometown favorite. The song highlights a solid classic sound with rough lyrics such as “here she comes, she's the one I hold like a gun.” The song showcases amazing guitar solos as well as solid drums with a great mix of vocals. The song catapults listeners further into the cd.
‘Don't Wanna Talk About Her' keeps listeners on the ride of their life with a ‘90s rock sound combined with guitars that had my head bopping and my foot stomping as I listened. The shouting lyrics added to the overall feel of the sound — making it a definite crowd pleaser.
The cd's headline track “Leave Her Alone” sounded most like an anthem with confident vocals and well-packaged drums, bass and guitar. “She's 21 year old, got a mind of her, better leave her alone,” the singer declares. The songs continues with clapping from the whole band best compared to that of old rock 'n' roll. The song continues with “she didn't clap her hands, she didn't move her feet,” which seems impossible to me while listening to these guys.
The songs highlighted are just the beginning with this amazing musically-sound disc. With solid music throughout the cd showcasing evident talent, it can be expected that this hometown group will be yet another defining Detroit band in the near future.

A strong and unique debut recording from the motor citiy
author: Highway Land CD Review Weekly
Even though they aren't dead, the ghosts of The Birds, Neil Diamond, and R.E.M. have dropped by one of Detroits best studios to inspire a new band to a unique and strong debut.
Like most music that manages to crawl from the beleaguered city, the Badways primary thrust is grim and gritty dollar-beer dive rock. Look a little deeper, however, and these tracks reveal a mingling of influences from mid-sixties bubblegum to early eighties alternative to haunting alt-country. Great stuff, indeed, with Motor City Girl, Ghost, and Everybody Thinks You're Crazy serving as standouts.
