ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A portion of the proceeds from each sale of Reach Across the Lines will be donated to the "Let Peace Live" Campaign to support Lebanese, Iraqi and Israeli peace activists.

Love yourself enough to give and receive gifts of peace!

Who else wants to be the change we want to see on Earth?
If you do, practice being free out loud about it.

Reach Across the Lines with Rachel's spirited EP and begin to breathe and speak with the powerful beauty of freedom. Mixes for singing along/listening, dancing and learning multiply your choices to practice being free out loud.

Step 1: Begin as the EP Reach Across the Lines (ReachXL) begins--with awareness of the thoughts and habits that keep us in patterns of individual and collective conflict:

“I watch in silence as you pass
You avoid my eyes

Mine is the garb of a different class
Your skin too dark to light”

excerpt from first verse
Reach Across the Lines

Step 2: Then reach across those broken lines of communion to create a present worthy of the children of Earth that we are, the children we bear, the children who are children that love to run and learn and dance and be safe everywhere.

"If your heart had the courage to sing, this is what it would sound like."

Choral arrangements are available to help your local vocal community—otherwise known as a choir--create and act on sonorous dreams of freedom. Click the Rachel Bagby website button to the left for free samples and examination copies of music from Breathing Music Publishing.

Step 3: Dare to notice and sing the truth whenever memory and desire collide.

“Fire answers fire
Pain answering pain
Memory and desire
Colliding again

Terrible the freedom
Unbearable the lives
If in this moment, eye-to-eye
Each of us dares to reach across the lines”

excerpt from bridge

Bio
Being a wind instrument for Life is an absolute joy. Likewise, it’s a privilege to masterfully teach people how to reclaim their birthrights to be free out loud by singing. Bring your voice to Life! As many frequencies combine to form what our ears hear as one tone, a chorus of information about my credentials, personal story, and sustainable living follow.

Rachel Bagby’s spirited vocal talents—which earned her a place in Bobby McFerrin’s improvisational ensemble, Voicestra—sustains a growing, world-wide audience. She has also released “Full,” (www.cdbaby.com/bagby) and co-produced “Becoming Consciously Vibralingual,” (www.cdbaby.com/bagby2)an inquiry into the relationships between sound, vibration, and collective wisdom. “Full” features her soundtrack for the Emmy Award-winning documentary, Dialogues with Mad Women.

Muse, a 70-voice women’s choir conducted by Cathy Roma, commissioned and premiered Rachel’s “DaughterWise Suite:” a collection of new spirituals about the joys and challenges of eldercare. Rachel’s publishing company, Breathing Music, distributes her compositions.

Rachel (JD Stanford) was simultaneously raised in the laps of violent poverty and extraordinary privilege. She is the fourth-generation of an artists/activists/healers lineage that reaches across the lines of race, class, spiritual, rural, urban and artistic traditions.

After studying the nexus of belief and value systems, societal behavior codes (laws), and social change at Stanford Law School, Rachel has spent years practicing and teaching the vibralingual laws of transformation. Rachel was identified as a thought leader and mentor by many participants in the Collective Wisdom Institute’s groundbreaking research on the field of collective intelligence and spiritual wisdom in groups.

She is passionate about helping daughters of every age give voice to their Life-affirming visions. Author of Divine Daughters: Liberating the Power and Passion of Women’s Voices, Rachel began honing the life-saving power of daughterly wisdom at the age of 11 when she inspired her father to replace the devastating ecstasy of drug and alcohol addiction with the disciplined joy of singing in a choir.

Rachel’s teaching career began in second grade when she created study groups to help her classmates learn how to read. She designed and taught her first creativity programs for younger daughters at the age of 15. Her multifaceted career has since taken her to India, Japan, South Africa, and throughout North America to work with thousands of people devoted to bringing their voices to Life.

Earth, one of Rachel’s eldest elders, inspired her to create Singing Farm, a solar-powered, 20-acre organic learning center in Central Virginia. As a daughter of music and growing things, Rachel inspires human beings—a singing species—to create restorative relationships between what we call nature and culture.

An enlightened vision for another way to be here now.
An aural tapestry of possibilities--the warp and woof are hope and vision. This music has the power to heal ancient wounds...play it for everyone you know. Dance to it, drum to it, sing along, but above all--open your soul to the transformative energy of this music.

Val Hampson
