From the Roanoke Valley of Virginia, comes Curt Baker & Greg Honeycutt, with an honest and true collection of tunes that simply defy time.
The core of "Straight from the Porch" features Curt and Greg, playing a variety of Depression-era guitars (and other instruments), in the comfortable and familiar setting of... well, think of a couple of guys sittin' on the porch at the end of the day... the guitars come out, and the music just happens.
Joining in on a few tracks, is an absolute "A" list of local musicians, and the result is some really hard-drivin' home-grown 'grass flavored tunes. These folks grew up with this music in their blood, and it shows. Listen on, as resophonic master, Mike Auldridge, and mandolinist, Hershel Sizemore, who is still defining the limits, make guest appearances on four cuts.
If the purpose of this record was to put the listener at ease, and allow them a look at the pastime that knows no time, it's a complete success. Come spend an evening on "The Porch" with Baker & Honeycutt... You'll be glad you did.
