I writes songs, and I recorded a dozen. So, here they are. I'm also a colorblind housepainter, and a sensitive custom song writer. I write fifty to a hundred songs a year, and some of them aren't too bad. I'm kind of like Greg Brown except that I edit. Not too much 'tho. I mean I'd like to be Leonard Cohen, but I don't have the patience. Maybe I'm like a hundred monkeys at a hundred typewriters typing randomly forever (which will eventually produce both "War & Peace" and the Yankees-Pirates 1960 Game Seven Box score)... and, it's all I can do to keep the monkeys fed and clean the monkey crap.

Very Moving. Honest Music.
author: Fabrice B.
I have listened to everything Leonard Cohen has ever sung. I have searched for music like his on CDbaby and have not found an accurate portrayal, until Balkey. This CD is the only one where you can tell the music was inspired by Cohen. Balkey adds a little country touch to some of his tunes as well. Very nice and smooth.

Another Great Collection
author: Rob Lincoln
"Poetic" "Sparing" "Dark" "Intimate"--these are some of the adjectives used to describe Erik Balkey's CDs in the past. This one is all that, but add "charming" "fun" and "happy go lucky" as well. Balkey delivers some real winning tunes here. "She Sleeps" and "Goodnight Lily" will have you humming for days. And for you Prine fans, check out "Nowhere Fast." Make sure not to miss the last three songs in the "River City Folk Interview." They are outstanding. This CD is singer-songwriter music at its best. Highly recommended--Rob Lincoln, cdreviewsonline.com
