Now more than ever, we need songs like these. Songs that lift us up, songs that make us ponder, songs that inspire us to work for peace and justice.
These songs represent some of the best that Milwaukee's exciting acoustic music scene has to offer. Listen to these stylistically varied and deeply moving songs...whose subjects range from echoes of past wars to the present crisis, and the effects of violence from countries across the oceans to our own urban streets. Our purpose in presenting this album is to share our hopes and fears, to give voice to our beliefs, and to offer encouragement to those who find speaking out for peace to be a lonely stance to take. Perhaps we are preaching to the choir...but if the choir is sufficiently fired up, they may go out and disperse the message further in the world!
Jym Mooney & Carol Lee Hopkins, Producers
"A consummate compilation of Milwaukee's finest folk...who share the vision of 'change through peace' with some very beautiful music."
The Shepherd Express
"This collection is better than most."
Dirty Linen
"Archival and interesting."
Sing Out!
"'Peace Light' is probably my favorite on the album. It's a jaunty tune with great vocal harmonizing by the Recycled Angels...Pamela Means ('Mule') sings with a great deal of passion. She has a wonderful voice and wraps her almost sultry voice around the words...John Stano's 'Be All You Can Be' injects some humor into the proceedings. It's a fun, sarcastic song."
