A half imagined memoir of a post-century life lived in speakeasies and discotheques. A saucy musical tale wherein the decedent 1930's meets the excesses of the 1970 glam rock and punk. Recorded live at the Dark Room in San Francisco, "BROADWAY HOSTESS" is an evening spent with the punk rock persona that SF Weekly calls 'delightfully volatile'.
Miss Lake has written two books. "The Unsinkable Bambi Lake" is the dish on the Cockettes, Angels and punks and a highly personal account of her evolution from innocent, suburban Johnny Purcell into fabulous, sophisticated Bambi Lake to touring Europe with legendary British) punk band, The Strangler's, Her second book, "Smash and Grab", is a collection of her poems and prose chronicling her life throughout the tumultuous 1980's and 90's.
Bambi Lake has been part of the San Francisco glamour queen scene since the "Cockette's" and "Angel's of Light" caused theatrical havoc in the '70s. A chanteuse, stripper, actress, and spoken word artist, Ms. Lake currently resides in Northern California.

Bambi Lake
My Glamorous Life As A Broadway Hostess
Fittingly dedicated to a who’s who of the San
Francisco underground and a bevy of performers who are
working the cabaret lounges of the great beyond My
Glamorous Life As A Broadway Hostess speaks to the
splendid seediness and neediness. Bambi Lake has truly
been there and done that and now shares that wisdom
with you! Starring Bambi Lake as a hostess with the
mostess and accompanied by the invincible Birdie-Bob
Watt on the mighty Yamaha PSR-530. My picks: “Jaded
Lady”, “Cockette Remembrances”, “Cigarettes, Cigars”,
“Midnight in Manhattan”, “The Golden Age of Hustlers”
and “The Music Than Makes Me Dance”.

You should get this for The Golden Age of Hustlers alone.
author: marina
The Golden Age of Hustlers is an incredible song and the album is worth having for that alone. If you're sentimental about the time and the place that this record evokes then you'll want it.
