Album Notes

GJ and the PimpKillers is an unexpected and captivating collection of songs from an artist with great range. Best known for the delicate ballad Darlin' (featured on the Sling Blade soundtrack), the singer/songwriter/arranger puts skills to work learned as an audio engineer (assisting artists including U2 and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds). Running the gamut from violence and vengeance to love and redemption, the recordings often juxtapose sonic lightness with dark subject matter and vice versa. Josh Klinghoffer and Steve Nistor lend top-notch musicianship to several of the tracks, layering guitars, organs, synthesizers and drums over electronic foundations. GJ and the PimpKillers is an engaging and compelling work from a talented woman with something interesting to say, and a very interesting way of saying it.
