Imagine for a moment that Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters joined up with Rivers Cuomo of Weezer. What would this rock collaboration sound like? They'd probably sound like Bancroft, who's already creating a delightful medley of distorted guitars, captivating lyrics, and a reminiscent, yet fresh feel to rock music. Bancroft's sound at its foundation is rock with an upbeat edge.
The Bowling Green, Ohio based four piece could further be compared to many other well-known artists such as Jimmy Eat World and Phantom Planet. Bancroft simply delivers hook driven tunes, catchy lyrics, and pure fun embodied in solid rock fashion.
Bancroft is not that flamboyant punk out there obnoxiously trying to get your attention while on stage, nor that quiet, jet-black haired kid standing in the corner that you wish would cheer up. Bancroft is, Andy Hutchinson (Lead Vocals and Guitar), Brett Duffy (Lead Guitar and Backup Vocals), David Nemet (Bass and Backup Vocals), and Mark Poseler (Percussion and Backup Vocals). As down to earth as they may seem off stage, on stage is another story. All four members pour every last bit of their heart and soul into the music. Their creation is a high energy live show that will have everyone bouncing around the room whether they've heard the band before or not.
Currently Bancroft is supporting their much-anticipated full-length CD, The Melophobic Solution, released on October 1, 2005. This is the band's greatest triumph to date, with only their best songs recorded with the utmost attention to detail. Steady touring and radio play throughout Ohio continues as the boys continue to spread the Bancroft buzz.

“The Melophobic Solution”

Grade: A-
It’s about time a local band gain some notoriety for putting out good music and Bancroft does just that with their new CD, “The Melophobic Solution” a mixture of insane guitars, powerful beats and true lyrics reaching to listeners in various ways.
Bancroft’s music goes the way of Weezer and Jet but also puts their own unique twist to stand on their own.
Bancroft is made up of Andrew Hutchinson (vocals/guitar), Brett Duffy (guitar/vocals), Dave Nemet (bass/vocals) and Mark Poseler (drums/vocals).
“The Melophobic Solution” doesn’t allow time to regroup between songs because each track fits the album individually to give the CD immense variety, something that has been lost over the years in the music business.
What’s ideal about Bancroft’s music is every member contributes lyrically and vocally to the band.
Tracks like “Worst Mistake,” “Stealing Fate” and “The Hookup” show Bancroft has promise to grow and reach out to more fans in other states than Ohio.
“Stealing Fate” is for every college freshman and senior adapting to their new surroundings and trying to survive in the world outside of the University.
The last track on The Melophobic Solution, “Closer,” is a peculiar song that starts off slow but has great guitar solos and harmonic vocals from Hutchinson throughout the five-minute song.
It’s a great ending to a great album.
