About The Bandallamas
Bandallamas is a collaborative ensemble of musicians who have performed worldwide. Their sound is steeped in global culture, incorporating tribal beats, reggae, blues, jass, funk, rock, and more, transporting their audience through an all-embracing sound of an irresistable world beat. Theire are many kinds of "good" music. Hundreds of thousands of "good" musicians entertain us. But a select few transcend categorization, create their own unique spirit of sound, complemented by the highest level of professionalize and quality. These musicians are the transporters of the vibe. The bear through the ages the legacy of the spirit and essence of musical origin - it's very roots. These musicians honor the purity of the art of music, preseving its soul in every note. These musicians are Bandallamas.
This eclectic group of artists who honor their timeless musical roots by welcoming guest collaborators and new additions to evolve fluidly and incessantly just as music itself has since the first beat reverberated in the core of one of our long-forgotten ancestors.
Their debut album, Eye to Eye, includes the musical contributions of legends of diverse performance backgrounds, including special guest performances by Jane Wiedlin (The Go-Gos), pat mAcdonald (Timbuk 3, Purgatory Hill), and Richard Davis, the living jazz legend who has performed with such greats as Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Eric Dolphy, Sarahn Vaughan, Steve Miller, Thad Jones, Dexter Gordon, Ahmad Jamal, Barbra Streisand, and more.
Staple collaborators include Chris Aaron, who co-founded the group with Pauli Ryan, on guitars and vocals, complimented by urban bluesman Bobby Bryan.
Piano and organ player Ken Saydak (Johnny Winter, Lonnie Brooks, Big Shoulders, Mighty Joe Young, Eddie Shaw, Dave Specter, Laurie Bell, Koko Taylor, and more) lends a hand or two, and Rob Wasserman (Jerry Garcia Band, Van Morrison, Woody Guthrie) contributes his unique expert bass stylings. Co-inventor of the six-string fretless upright electric bass, Wasserman was the first musician to master the instrument.
Holding it all together are Pauli Ryan (Garbage, L7, U2, Sunvolt), Wally Ingram (Sheryl Crow, Jackson Browne, Tracy Chapman, David Lindley), and Victor DeLorenzo (Violent Femmes) on percussion.
The group is based in Denver, Colorado, and records together under the label Bandallamas Records.
