This is Clyde Hargrove, formerly with the band from Baton Rouge, LA, called The Terms, which dissolved last November (2006) after their terrible car wreck on the way to a gig. The car actually rolled over onto Clyde, causing severe injuries to his body, crushing certain bones. Part of Clyde’s recovery process has been his development of these songs for his solo debut album: Band of Clyde, “swimming in rain.” He plays all of the instruments, writes all of the music and sings all of the songs. He’s rife with creative ability and musical genius, combined with a special knack for what sounds good, with catchy hooks, licks and interesting lyrics. He also has marvelous, relaxing, solo piano instrumental music cd’s: “lost cities” and “found cities.” Check them all out, we’re sure You Like!
ABOUT THE LABEL:
Human Metronome was founded in Shreveport, Louisiana, by amateur cellists Helen and Beecher Wood. It was originally conceived of for recording classical music CDs of the cello duets written by the composer, Jacques Offenbach (1819 - 1880), to realize the dream of their then-cello teacher and friend, Paul Christopher. The Woods' love of the cello, their own "at home" cello duet playing, including their cello lessons from Paul Christopher, Ruth Drummond (and Paul’s stand partner from the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, Kris Haas) and their periodic hosting of various small chamber music recitals by the pros, inspired them to launch their own independent classical music record label.
The Gift of Melody was their inaugural product, which garnered some real success: some in sales, placement in a made-for-BBC documentary movie as background music to a full feature piece on the artist Toulouse Lautrec, and numerous 5-Star critical reviews.
In February, 2007, along came Clyde Hargrove (b.1982), the son of old family friends of the Woods’, whose injuries in a recent car accident with his former band (The Terms, from Baton Rouge, LA), brought him back to Shreveport for rehabilitation and recovery. Recognizing Clyde’s clear, raw, exceptional talent on guitar (both electric and acoustic), bass too, and on the piano (or synthesizer), with an ear for and facility with the drums as well, combined with his unique ability to write melodic, catchy tunes (and songs with wry, curious, unusual lyrics), and seeing the need for him to be able to use the studio as a perfect outlet for his recovery process, the Woods provided him with home studio space, including equipment; and the rest is history-in the making! His music is organic, masterful, memorable and fun. His CDs, in the Indie Rock/Pop genre as well as his New Age instrumentals, immediately received critical acclaim throughout the world wide web, specifically seeing reviews and placement among, and along with, the well-respected, top-name established acts. This, too, from just a one-man-band, BAND OF CLYDE! This is exciting stuff! Watch for it to grow!
Human Metronome is an ideal example of entrepreneurial achievement in music production. The CDs, while produced on small budgets in home studios, are created using distinguished professional musical artists and expert sound engineers.
The producers, musicians and engineers live in Shreveport, Louisiana.
