Album Notes

This CD synthesizes an almost perfect balance between four different musicians concerned with one thing - quality. They came together in the studio and produced a very beautifully nuanced CD. The set contained herein has both originals and standards that showcase each member's prodigious talents and is truly a concise presentation of the music that the Band of Joes plays live.
The Band of Joes works all over the Chicago area mainly. Most notably they have held down Sundays at Joe's Bebop Cafe' for a year and a half. They also have worked often at other Jazz clubs in the Chicago area including Andy's and the Green Mill.
Each member of this band is an artist in his own right, but this band represents the unification of an ideal - that working class musicians who earn their living in the very difficult field of jazz music can come together and make truly great music that both entertains and has depth.

Early candidate for Album of the Year!

This is an incredible album with 68 minutes of superior latin-based jazz. A band of equals, the Joe's include Kelly Sill on bass and Steve Eisen on flute tenor sax and soprano sax, both among the best players in the Chicago area, and Steve Million on piano and Alejo Poveda, on piano and drums, each incredible players. This program of mostly originals, with a few standards and a few vocals is scintillating from start to finish. It's about time Eisen got some solo space. He's an incredible player. Well worth buying.
