Excellent

I really enjoyed this CD of covers of classic songs from the 80s. It's a great way to be introduced to new artists, and makes me hungry for more new electropop!

More fun than expected
author: Brendan
I will be honest (that's usually helpful in a review). I bought this set because I wanted to have finally on CD, "Someone Else's Eyes" by Brand New Idol. To me, it is one of the most brilliant synth-pop songs of all time. And sadly, this is the only place you can now find this tune on CD.
With that being said, I was very pleased to really be able to enjoy the rest of the collection. The originals CD really is a great collection of tracks in the synth-pop, classic new wave, and new romantic genres. (And I thought I was the only one who still loves that stuff.)
The only thing that I would state is that I don't perceive anything here to be really Goth. So if you think that based on the title you'll be hearing something along the lines of Siouxsie, Cure, or Bauhaus, you may be disappointed.
However, if you pine to listen to "nu-muzik" from new artists, this is a great collection to help you realize that all hope is not lost.

Some very good songs, but the mix is uneven.

I am very happy with this two CD set, but the mix is a pretty uneven. Some songs are great covers of old favorites but others are really lacking. The CD is also not very Goth at all, so I'm a little confused as to why it is called the Goth Version. Overall, several of the songs have become new favorites of mine, but I end up skipping several tracks on both CDs.

Bang Bang

I bought this CD primarily for the Dax/Dale Bozzio cover of 'Ashes to Ashes,' though the CD itself is worth buying in support of RAINN, an organization dedicated to the needs of rape, incest and abuse victims (for which all sales proceeds of this CD benefit). 'Ashes to Ashes' is charming... Dax proves an able vocalist and Dale Bozzio's voice is the perfect complement to the material. Too bad this song is only 3-minutes in change in length! The other tracks each have merit, and of course, SeriousVanity Records makes a point of including original material from each artist. It's always fun to hear our favorite '80s music transformed and transported to today's music scene. Pick up this CD as a tribute to one of pop music's most original and colorful eras, and in support of RAINN.
