ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Come Lasses and Lads, Lords and Ladies!

Join acclaimed young singer Michael Bannett on a magical journey through time as he regales you with songs of the British Isles. Experience the Scotland of Robert Burns, the England of Shakespeare, the lovely countryside of Ireland and Wales. Hear timeless melodies from the 17th to the early 20th centuries masterfully arranged by Quilter, Liddell, Hughes, and others. All aboard!

Already a veteran of musical theater, recording, and national television, Michael follows up his international award-winning "Beautiful Soup" CD with this second solo recording. (See MichaelBannett.com for complete discography.) Accompanying Michael here are superb musicians playing piano, acoustic guitar, 19th-century flute, viola da gamba, and other period instruments including baroque types of flute, piccolo, violin, viola, and cello.

"... true artist's instincts and an unusually mature vocal sensitivity.... a "must have" recording for fans of things Celtic"
--Douglas Neslund, Beverly Hills Outlook, September 2004

Thanks for the memory!
The 18 songs blend nicely together to evoke a picture of gentle countryside and contented folk of an earlier age. The listener feels the richer for the experience and the memory of Michaels crystal clear voice is assured.

Christophe HENRY (FRANCE)

SUPERB
The album called "beautiful soup" sung by Michael Bannett was good but this one is excellent. He put a lot of energy in it and the work with the words is accurate. In "beautiful soup" Michael spoke several langages: here he uses several voices (treble, alto,ténor?)!!!The instrumental accompanying is magnificient.

Pure Listening Pleasure.
This latest CD by Michael is one that I would recommend to anyone looking for unusual and relaxing music. Many of the songs are new to me, and are a delight to listen to. Step back in time and enjoy!

John Whiteley

As good as it gets!
AS an avid collector of Boy choir/Boy soloist music Journey through the British isles is one of my best! It's as good as it gets!
Michael is a brilliant boy singer who really knows how to get the best out of a song!
I enjoyed it so much I've just ordered Beautiful Soup!

Ian Chorley

Songs for the Armchair Traveller
This is a great CD, by a really talented young singer, to relax to,preferably sitting in the garden on a warm summers evening with a glass of white wine, listening to those charming evocations of journeying through the British Isles in times long gone...

John Malcolm Burns

A superb collection
A superb collection of songs from a very talented young singer. The ephemeral nature of the treble voice makes us more than grateful that it has been captured so well.

Joseph Cowden

another award winning performance
Michael wins his second Trebby Award with this outstanding recording - highly recommended!
