Cantorial soloist and singer-pianist, Barbara Good LOVES to make music - and from audience responses, she connects! A feature in the Wheeling News-Register applauded “the marvelous talent of Barbara Good. She sings wonderful songs, her voice is a delight and her warm personality glows”. The Times-Leader of Eastern Ohio captioned her “the fabulous Barbara Good.”
Whether rendering the liturgical music for a worship service, shining in the spotlight of her Cabaret Barbara shows, or presenting a program or workshop, BARBARA GOOD puts her heart and soul into her music. Her unique style, incomparable repertoire & always-fresh approach make each occasion truly vibrant.
Performing throughout WV’s Upper Ohio Valley region and beyond - from Pittsburgh to Paris - Barbara was featured at
The John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC in April 2001.
She currently has two albums to her credit; her third - recorded live at her cabaret shows at the Stifel Fine Arts Center in Wheeling WV - is in production. “Songs For The Sake Of Heaven” is an inspirational collection celebrating the 140th anniversary of her congregation where she is music director and cantorial soloist. “Barbara Good Makes Music At Oglebay” features Broadway hits, standards and a few country songs popular at her ongoing appearances at the nationally-acclaimed resort where she has been featured regularly for more than 25 years. Originally recorded on cassette, both albums have been recently remastered to CD.
Born in Manhattan, Barbara has lived in the Wheeling area since early childhood, raising her four children there with her husband, Larry. Two grandchildren give her even more to sing about! In 1971, they created the Good Zoo at Oglebay
in loving memory of their first child – seven-year-old Philip.
Barbara began studying music as a young child and pursued it at WVU. She has always considered it a gift for which she is deeply grateful and upon which her career thrives.
"When the joy that I always find in making music translates
so immediately and so wholeheartedly into joy on the receiver's end, it makes the experience absolutely marvelous!"
