ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This song was created by Barbara McAfee and Jean Leicester to support a Habitat for Humanity build in Winona, Minnesota. A group of women were building a house for a mother and her children. The crew sang it as they worked. The song fulfilled the same purpose on a Habitat build in Guatemala. The New Primitives, awarded the best reggae band in the Twin Cities for five years, was called in to provide the music on the recording. Members on this recording include Stanley Kipper (drums and vocals), Mark Chico Perez (percussion and vocals), Matthew R. Stevens (bass and vocals), Joel Schaan (guitar and vocals), and Bruce Jackson (keyboards). Back-up vocals were also provided by members of The Morning Star Singers, a volunteer hospice choir in the Twin Cities. Barbara sings lead vocals. Rich media artist Lucy Mathews Heegaard is creating a YouTube music video that includes images from the Winona and Guatemala builds. Barbara and Jean are exploring ways to put the song to use in support of affordable housing, both through Habitat for Humanity and other organizations. We'd love to hear your ideas!
