ECO LOGIC
The debut offering of former Magnetics lead guitarist/vocalist explores such world issues as ecology, ethnical cleansing, family dysfunction, gambling addiction and more on this sophisticated rock CD...
This impressive debut marks the first solo effort of the Magnetics' Jim Barbaro. Out of Jim's three solo CDs to date, this one rocks the hardest. Thematically, the material follows a "logical" path: sociological, psychological, idealogical, and ecological. The set also includes three remastered Magnetics songs for the first time on CD, exemplifying the transition between the earlier Magnetics albums and Barbaro's follow-up efforts.
BURNING BLUE
Jim Barbaro's second album burns blue with romance and passion.
Barbaro's sophomore effort is a perfect example of the GAG Order Records' RPM philosophy (Romance, Passion, Melody). With a dash of Chris Isaak, a splash of Sting, and a whole heap of Jim, this warm and evocative set burns blue and burns true.

Eco Logic: solid rock with a social conscience
author: Jane Ellen
Jim Barbaro conjures up powerful images with this debut solo effort. Eco Logic drives relentlessly in a blend of traditional/Euro/prog rock complete with blazing guitar solos on Still Life At Home. Yet, this album has surprisingly inventive touches as well: the Celtic and Greek flavourings of Ghost Nation, the 50s styling on Mr. Spaceman, and the funky ostinato behind Scary Things. The opening track, One Big Love (which could have been a break out single), is deceptively feel-good rock and doesn’t betray the actual depth to be found in this CD. Just when you begin to get caught up in the irresistible beat of this album, the lyrics begin to get inside your head. Seamlessly wedded music and lyrics create well-defined mental images, which will haunt you long after the initial listen; this is truly 'rock with a heart.' Everyone will have his special favourites; mine are The Dark Before The Dawn and She Calls Me.

Burning Blue: eclectic rock and roll at its finest
author: Jane Ellen
Jim Barbaro's second solo effort takes a softer and more introspective approach, allowing his unique vocal and guitar stylings to be showcased in a more intimate way. An eclectic album, Burning Blue has overtones of flamenco, classical, country, reggae, and jazz, while throwing in a throbbing backbeat bluesy torch song for good measure. Jay Ungar of Ashokan Farewell fame adds tasty mandolin and fiddle licks on Over Here and The Heart of the World, which is an unexpected folk-styled treasure. Favorite picks on any given day are: Over Here, See You in My Dreams, Bye Bye Moon, and Empty Eyes (which bookends the disc, in both vocal and instrumental formats).
