Barbary Grant is best known for her elegant renderings of traditional Gaelic song. Originally trained as a classical pianist, Barbary was drawn to traditional Celtic music by its power to evoke deep feeling. Now her rich Irish harp and crystal-clear voice breathe new life into the old songs of the Gael.
Off-stage, however, Barbary works as a hospital musician at Stanford University and El Camino Hospitals in Northern California. With wheels strapped to the base of her harp, she is able move through the hospitals playing soothing instrumentals for patients and staff everywhere from the newborn nurseries to ICUs.
Soft Mild Morning is a collection of these lyrical harp instrumentals, chosen expressly to calm and soothe listeners. Eleven of the sixteen tracks feature lovely arrangements of traditional Celtic melodies. Five include flute, fiddle, and/or cello solos. Five pieces by contemporary composers - Kim Robertson, Sylvia Woods, and William Mahan - complete this relaxing collection.

Beautiful, haunting soul music. A joy to hear.
author: Ron W
The interpretation and execution of intrumental Gaelic music on this recording is certainly amongst the best that I have ever heard. It has the power to inspire peace and well-being whilst remaining up-lifting. It has instantly established itself as a priceless diamond amongst my music collection.
