Barebones is a blues duo that has been playing in the NYC metro area for about ten years. Doctor 88 blows the harmonicas, and Gene "The Jammeister" Caprioglio plays guitar. They are joined by The Sparebones, Lionel Sanders on cajon (Cajon is a box you sit on and play with your hands.) and Joel Darelius on acoustic bass, on some tracks on this CD. It was essentially recorded live with no overdubs. There is some live looping and found sounds looped or edited in. Funhouse is their second CD.
Here's what the people say about Barebones.
"Barebones boast great players with a blazing idea - a plain-wrapper package from tomorrow...Dr. 88 know exactly how to work a good hook...a truly unique melodic personality...Caprioglio's brilliant rhythm rocking is harder than most drummers... a great independent album...worth the search..."
-Ed Ivy/Blues Revue on 35 Orange, their first CD
"A harmonica driven acoustic delight...Dr. 88 plays first rate harp."
-Robbie Wolliver/Newsday
"...acoustic guitar harp twosome with unusal well-arranged material ranging from a sweet version of Amazing Grace ...to Ma Rainey's CCRider"
-Blues Access/Issue 44/2001
