ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Barefoot Contingent is an Acoustic Rock group from Issaquah, WA that emerged on the Seattle music scene in 2007. Their debut album “Sunbathing in the Rain” was released in November of that year. The title track “In the rain” is a lighthearted look at life in the Pacific Northwest. With their Folk, Blues, and Soul influences the Barefoot Contingent has been compared with bands such as the Lovin’ Spoonful, James Taylor and Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals.
Growing up together these three brothers, Josh Phelps (Bass, Piano), Ben Phelps (Drums, Percussion), and Zach Shaw (Guitar, Vocals) learned to play in their parents’ garage, developing their craft individually and as a group. With their ever open ears and imaginations, and their emphasis on often witty and satirical songwriting they have created a new sound that has roots the most traditional musical genres.
