Worth The Wait !

Leland Sklar has been one of my favourite bass players for years. I remember buying the first BS in 1994 and being a bit disappointed by the songwriting... but not this time ! This is a great blues (hard) rock album filled with raw energy and superb playing. The songs are excellent as is the production that perfectly fits the music. Highly recommended !

Way Too Long Of A Wait

To my pleasant surprise the 2nd Servants has finally been served. The 1st release was a plugged in, rockin', bluesy affair that was sadly overlooked by the masses. While this disc still has that flavor to it, the stronger presence of acoustics is a nice added touch. And I don't know if it's me or the music (most likely the music), but the more I play this disc, the better it gets. If you're a fan of good music (regardless of styles), I would highly recommend getting this disc.

Super servants

The Barefoot Servants are a supergroup of sorts featuring some fantastic players like guitarist/ vocalist Jon Butcher and bassist Leland Sklar, who has appeared on over 100 albums in his career, not to mention toured with the likes of James Taylor and Phil Collins. They are busy cats, which makes their new second CD, released a good decade after their debut, much welcome.
They added second guitarist Ben Schulz to fill out their sound a bit. They have lots of layers of cool sounds. They drag the listener into Pharaoh’s House which is reminiscent of David Holt and Storyville, and keep your attention through a score of mellower tracks on which Sklar seems woefully underused, but make up for it in spades on riff filled tracks like Rude Boy, Trick of the Light, Love You Too Much and Dog Days, when they kick it up a notch.
Barefoot Servants 2 really grows on you, especially when you turn it up and pay attention to all of the cool stuff going on in the songs.
