Album Notes

Will Benoit: guitar, vocals, drumkit, and percussion
Jay Driscol: guitar, vocals, harmonica, and percussion
---Jay Driscoll and Will Benoit met in 2003 in Groton Long Point, CT and immediately realized they had the same musical tastes and influences. They decided to couple their talents and began writing original songs and playing shows in New England. With no name for their new project, a fan at one of their shows suggested Barefoot since they play without shoes on, the name seemed to fit perfectly with their beach feel and Barefoot was born. Later down the road, due to another band named Barefoot owning the rights to the name, the name evolved to Barefoot Truth, which fully describes their true, homegrown, organic style.

At shows when fans kept asking if they had an album, they knew it was time to go into the studio and record. In August of 2004 they went to In Phaze Audio in North Stonington, CT and recorded a 7 track demo CD self titled Barefoot, which was released in October of 2004. After a better than expected response, they went to Lake West Recording Studio during the winter of 2005. There they began working with producer Jack Gauthier, known for his work with Dispatch. The duo released their first full length album “Changes in the Weather” at the beginning of June 2005.

Jay and Will are committed to the notion that there is a demand for unprocessed, organic singer/songwriter music that all too often does not make it onto commercial radio. So when writing and recording they bring this type of music alive. With their acoustic mix of feel good rhythms and distinctive riffs they blend a sort of beach and folk rock style into something that is distinctively Barefoot Truth.

Changes In The Weather is full of uplifting songs such as The Ocean and Cinimin' Summer, that capture the "life is good" feeling, to songs like Red, which tell stories reflecting some of the hardships of history. A favorite among fans is Roll If Ya Fall which inspires people to not just sit and watch life but to live it to the fullest. Barefoot Truth brings diversity to their music to keep listeners interested and coming back for more. With just two guitars, bongos and a harmonica, Barefoot Truth brings a full energetic sound to life at their live shows. Most importantly they have fun doing what they love to do...playing tunes.

Barefoot Truth will be releasing another CD in early April entitled "Club House Sessions". So check the barefoottruth.com website for news.

This is a great CD. I have the other, later Barefoot Truth albums, which I absolutely love, so I had to get this one too. Fabulous first album for the band. I love their homegrown sound and peaceful, environmental messages, more prevalent in their later albums. Awesome band!

Sweet album...Red is unbelievable

Assuming that the artists are about my age (based on pics I've seen), I'm extremely impressed by the song Red...that they were able to write such a meaningful song despite not having lived through a draft. I love the album's sound and I ditto all the other responses, except the one about being better at sex. I'll spread the word about BFT in the midwest!
