Album Notes
The creative duo at the heart of Brooklyn based Barefoot Walking, lead singer Livia Beasley and guitarist Anthony Grillo, first made music together in the late ‘90s. As Barefoot Walking they recruited a solid rhythm section in the shape of drummer George Scoufaras and bassist Peter Archer. Most recently fiddle player Griffin Sargent has joined the ranks, deepening the rootsy vibe already present Liv’s classic Americana vocals.

Barefoot Walking started playing shows in early 2010. The band has mostly played the New York indie circuit, including Arlene’s Grocery, Crash Mansion, The Delancey, Fontana’s, Lit Lounge, Mercury Lounge, Sullivan Hall, and Trash Bar.
In the summer of 2010, Barefoot Walking recorded their first album, "Running With Sprinklers" at Beat Street Productions. They filmed their first music video "Mermaid Day Parade" on the beach, rides, and Freak Show stage of Coney Island. The album is available at shows and on, iTunes, and The video is on YouTube.

Livia is both a Brooklynite and a child of the Illinois farm belt, an enriching tension reflected in the song “Cold Room.” The song tells the story of the singer’s decision to leave her childhood home for New York, in pursuit of her dreams. a career in children’s television. It includes the line “Barefoot walking in the grass… It smells like it’s raining,” from which the band draws its name.

Barefoot Walking is a rootsy, leftfield pop outfit, whose songs have an infectious, dance-funk twist. Barefoot Walking’s material has a deceptively cheerful surface that hides a far darker undercurrent. Let them pull you under.
