Memphis, like most major cities throughout the world, has a strong music community. In this town there is a history, from the jug bands of the thirties to the blues on Beale St., the delta sounds, the Sun years of the 50's with Jerry Lee and Elvis and Orbison, Stax soul of the sixties, up to the present day blends of rap, country rock and singer/songwriters. Bruce Barham is of the latter genre, performing solo throughtout the tri-state area. Beginning in 1966 with The Changin' Tymes,(Blue Music Box) his twelve string influences show in the material he does today, honestly used and ever becoming his own tool, as he ranges from folk to blues to semi-classical.
Memphis Soloist was recorded thru Cakewalk, the guitar and vocals simultaneously, with harmonica on a rack. Bass tracks were added, as was the flute. It is an honest representation of the sound Bruce offers in his performances. The four originals are palatable and show the different styles he writes. Lament of Shamas D'Alton is celtic influenced, Rainbrook is an instrumental originally released in the 70's and redone here. Yesterday Blues was written for accessibility in jams and is an upbeat tune, and Whos That Walkin' has found fans already. Hopefully you become one. Let us know what you think. My previous cd, Lonebyrd, is also available to hear on cdbaby.New release is at cdbaby.com/barham3 and it built around Native American Flute, and is entitled Under These Skies.....

Did not know what to expect. The experience of this cd was very pleasant. Mr. Barham should go some where with this. To much talent to go unnoticed.
