Album Notes
baron. is an American (producer/songwriter/singer/lyricist) releasing his sophmore project 'Celebrity' July 11, 2008. The album features production work from Belief, The Oracle, and baron. with guest appearances from Queen GodIs, Nhojj, Infinite, and Uche.

baron.'s goal of the album was to "dissect the celebrity phenomenon lyrically and sonically as well as give listeners a view into my life." The album borrows influences from ol' school hip-hop, dub, dance-hall, new wave, glam rock, and electronica to name a few. A genres mash-up may make it difficult to classify but with it's appealing edge listeners will spot the influences and dance anyway. "The cool thing is that I found it easy to write these songs. The patterns are a little off but so am I."

“Celebrity” is filled with music designed to make you think while you sweat. "I liken it to a dance-club with 3 floors. Tears and heartache on the first floor; sex and sexuality on the second floor; and then there is VIP. Where in VIP you can relax and enjoy all of what you’ve been through because it’s made you who you are right now."

"The sound developed as I developed because I was new to everything; songwriting, beat making, producing, everything. Therefore I had no template to follow except for the music I liked and the stuff going on in my head."

Fell in Love w/Baron the first go 'round ...
... and just from only hearing 'Feels Like Fashion' (which he performed live at Newark-Essex Pride) I knew this CD was a MUST HAVE. Even if I had not seen that performance I would've still ordered it because Baron sings from MY head, and from those of other like-minded souls across the globe.

Those who've experienced that deep connection know exactly what I'm talkin' about. ~~

The album, from start to finish, is HOT! The tracks have creative depth and the lyrics have substance - making its sound original while the diverse influences are very clearly intertwined, then taken to the next level. B - thank you for sharing yourself & your artistry with the world! We benefit from your contribution.

Way to go Baron!
When I first saw Baron perform in Washington, DC a couple of months ago, I knew he was a remarkable artists. But when I purchased "Celebrity" he only took his talents to a new height showing how creative and versatile he is. I love this CD, aside from the hypnotic arrangements in each song, I am thoroughly impressed with how much control he has over his work, being the writer of all his material and vocalist, he is also the executive producer and designer, it shows how much pride and respect an artist has for their work when they make the final decisions before it gets into the hands of their fans. Way to go Baron, "Celebrity" gets me out of the bed each morniing and puts the pep in my step. Can't wait for your next work!

Over the course of 14 tracks (with not one worth skipping over), you will hear beats that are hip-hop, yet tribal, world music...musical accompaniment that channels everything that was great about the 80s (the bassline alone on the title track is worth the price of the album), vocals that are soulful and slick, and lyrics that are crafty and cunning: you will laugh, fantasize, pose, think and evaluate.

I think what makes this album such a winner is that Baron succeeds across the board: he's not just the voice, he's the writer, producer, and driver of the image. If Grace Jones were a man and if T Bone Burnett produced hip-hop, they 'd be Baron.

Celebrity has the juice to take Baron beyond the indie scene. He is an icon. Period.

With his last album, baron plumbed the darker depths of his Soul. In his new effort, he's got time (and energy) to party from the heart. What a range in musical style and performance ability! I'm lovin it.
