*** ALERT *** Courage For A Rainy Day - Rick Barry #77 on NeilYoung.com's "Songs of the Times"..
--- ------ ----------
Rick Barry is A 23 year old songwriter from NJ whom the Star Ledger has already called A "Living Local Legend", and The Aquarian weekly has called "No Mere Sensation." Rick is Above all else a story teller, with melodic hooks and clever lyrics, he pulls you in to epic tales of existential dilemma and does not let you go.

Rick has played with many touring acts From all over the world, for example: Glen Tilbrook (of Squeeze), Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Nine Days, Nada Surf, Josh Ritter, and Amphibain (feat. members of Phish) to name a few. "Small town politics" His debut record was released in August 2005.

Rick recently won his second Asbury Park Music Award for "Best Male Solo" after returning home from a west coast tour. In March 2006 Rick's song "Courage for A Rainy Day" was awarded the Grand Prize in the John Lennon International Songwriting Competition. His tune "Graphic Narrative" placed 2nd making him the first singer/songwriter in the competitions history to compete against himself in the final round:)

In July, 2005 Gary Wien of Upstage Magazine dubbed Rick Barry "The Next Billy Bragg" and wrote "he's constantly changing, constantly evolving, and usually full of surprises. He's one of a kind......thank go.."

In July 2006 Jersey Todd from Sirius/PodShow.com said,"I've seen the future of rock & roll, and his name is Rick Barry."

Colie Brice of AERIA Records says, "Declaration of Codependence is an intimate, unadorned aural snapshot of Rick doing what he does best - singing and playing his ass kicking, thought provoking, heart wrenching, gut bucket songs. There is no bullshit on this recording, just genuine talent.."

REVIEWS

Intimate Snaphot of An Evolving Songwriter..
author: Colie Brice
Declarations of Codependence is an intimate aural snapshot and view into the mind, feelings, and speculations of one Rick Barry. It is here in the sparse musical landscape of one man and one guitar where the sensitivity, depth, and true meaning of Rick's repertoire emerges.. Its real, complete with warts and bruises, but that's the beauty of this album.. Its honesty and the soul piercing clarity of the writer's sentiments.. I dig it.. Colie Brice
