Album Notes

A pianist, arranger & producer, Barry Sames is a "musician's musician" who articulates familiar feelings with an extraordinary jazz artistry that speaks of life and love.

Barry has explored the world of jazz-fusion, co-founding an original five-piece band INSYNK in the early 90s. The band recorded and performed in the Philadelphia and New York area up until 1996. In that same period, Barry brought his jazz music into the church, composing and arranging for jazz vespers concerts in both local and national U.S. church settings. A few years later, his ensemble was selected to perform for the national Lutheran Churchwide Assembly. This experience laid the foundation for "Awaiting the Spirit", a Gospel/Jazz CD that was released in 1998 and was highly praised in the music community. That same year he was commissioned to write and perform a new Sacred concert for big band, strings and choir. Barry continues to receive many accolades for his music ministry, including recognition of his original song Worthy as "Song of the Week" on TheGospelzone.com. Worthy features the outstanding and unmistakable vocal talents of Philadelphia's Mikki Kornegay.
In December 1999 Barry toured with violin virtuoso Meg Okura on an 8-city tour of Japan, where the duo performed concerts in churches and theaters. He went on to produce Ms. Okura's present CD "Never Alone", with additional performances at Robert Schuller's Crystal Cathedral in California in October 2000. Barry also co-produced and arranged for the Tokyo World Soul Chorus in September 2000.
Moving into 2002, Barry continues to explore and blend new music genres like the increasingly popular Neo-Soul and Latin Pop flavors. He is also involved in several film and commercial scoring projects including a series of infomercials for martial arts master and actor, Jackie Chan. Barry creates music that is spiritually soulful and accessible, yet progressive minded.
