Album Notes

Bart Brady Ciampa (BMI), is a composer, arranger, and trumpet/flugelhorn player who lives and records in Vancouver, Washington, a suburb of Portland, Oregon. He was born and raised in the Boston area where he studied with Jerry Mitchell for ten years. During college in the early '60's, he was fortunate enough to live near Lenny's-on-the-Pike, which was the premier jazz venue of the greater-Boston area. During this period he spent many inspiring evenings listening to the jazz greats and was influenced by folks such as Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, Herb Pomeroy, Alan Dawson, Dave Lambert, Charlie Mingus, and many others. His eclectic style encompasses Latin, mellow jazz, and the old jazz standards. He has released seven CD's, the latest of which are titled, "Soft Sounds, Sweet Dreams, " which is a collection of muted jazz standards, "Twilight Interlude, " a collection of thirteen original Latin songs, and "Another Smooth Operator, " a collection of popular ballads. His last project was titled, "Caution!! May Cause Drowsiness!!" and was released in June of 2003. His current project is titled, "Local Anaesthetic" and is scheduled to be released in early 2004. All are available through CDbaby.com.

REVIEWS

Very nicely done professional project
author: Joe Ross
Bart has done an impressive job of composing, arranging, and recording this original music for his flugelhorn and flumpet. His band is a digital quintet with synthesized sounds of percussion, bass, vibes and more. His goal was to inspire a mood of "relaxed introspection," and his instruments and accompaniment are certainly the ideal setting for that. While I would've liked to see him vary the tempos a little more, this is a very nicely done professional project!
