Album Notes

Although chiming guitars and eminently singable choruses make her music instantly accessible, beneath an iridescent pop sparkle lies a dense shadowland of emotion, intensity and truth. Her songs initially sound sweet and simple but the lyrics reveal a sadder introspective alternative.
"I've been a good girl, a bad girl and a sad girl," she says. "You get to meet all of them -- sometimes all in one song."

Her musical influences range from Carole King to Aimee Mann,
from The Beatles to Rickie Lee Jones and this compelling alternative pop lends itself admirably to dramatic applications. The hit WB series, Smallville, has utilized Susan's music to underscore on-screen action and she's recently inked licensing deals with a trio of powerhouse companies who keep Hollywood supplied with songs.

Her first two releases, THIS THING and ROMEO & THE BEAUTY QUEEN earned accolades from Billboard, merit awards from ASCAP, and airplay on Los Angeles radio, and her newest CD promises to extend her legacy of ever-evolving songcraft.

She plays occasional live shows at Los Angeles clubs like
The Gig, The Mint, Molly Malone's, Club Lingerie and Genghis Cohen, sometimes as a solo performer and sometimes with an eclectic mix of musicians drawn from a few close friends and some of L.A.'s finest session players. She prefers to leave her diva at the door, believing that a well-written song, not the artist, should be the star.

This is Susan's 3rd CD to date & arguably her best. This is a fantastic CD full of beautifully crafted pop songs, every one worthy of being a single.Susan's voice is really unbelievable,so many styles & sounds wrapped into each song. The production would leave some of the "major" bands wishing their CD's sounded this good. As with her voice it really needs to be heard to be believed!! If you like catchy, well written & performed adult pop music you really should buy this CD as it never disappoints & will leave you wanting more of the extremely talented Susan Barth.

Do yourself a favor: buy this cd!
author: Jay Bovard
What we have here is a cd that lives up to its name. Wonderland is a collection of eleven radio-worthy songs. From the melodic title track to the hard-driving "So Tired of You", this is one collection that has it all. Musically, it is rich in many ways. Vocally, you will swear you are hearing more than one main singer. Susan has an unique way of changing her tonal quality, not just from song to song, but from line to line. The harmonies are well utilized and add richness. Also, in addition to your standard fare of instruments, some rarities have been dusted off and thrust in the spotlight to give a full listening experience. From the haunting cello sounds on "She's There" to the often overlooked accordian on "Grammys", you get a sense that there was a sincere effort to produce a complete package. And it delivers! This production is top-notch; clean and full. Lyrically, you get it all. Wonderland sets the tone of the entire cd by beginning: "Every morning I get up, I'm making my bed...Should be making my head. Go to work and now I'm feeling half past dead". The rest of the songs continue to speak to you in ways you don't hear everyday. Many of them give you the sense that this artist is growing weary of the music industry and their "cookie cutter" approach to music. She longs for a little recognition and this cd proves that she has earned it! I wanted to write how, this song compares to this artist, and this song sounds just like so-and-so. But, to be honest, that would not be a fair assessment of this cd. You hear so many influences throughout, that you can listen to it over and over and over again, and you'll come to the same conclusion: Susan Barth is an artist all unto herself. So do yourself a favor: buy this cd. Listen to it. You'll thank yourself in the end.
