Basement 31 is an all-original alternative rock band from New Jersey.
Presently, the band is composed of Aurelius 'Goldie' Masaoy (vocals),
Ryan Paayas (lead and rhythm guitars), John Sayson (bass guitar) and
Carlo 'Ponti' David (drums and percussion). The band's inspirations to
write songs are from experiences relating to issues they have personally
encountered including social, psychological, racial and sometimes personal
relationships. Basement 31 was formed in the summer of 1997 in Union,
New Jersey and have been playing in local New York City and Jersey clubs
which includes now defunt CBGBs and Coney Island High, Tribeca Club and
Obsessions for some time now. The band's name came from a basement of a
house #31 in Hillside where they practiced during their early years.
On February 2000, the band has produced and released their full-length
debut indie album '...it doesn't matter...!' and emerged with an alternative
metal sound. Songs 'Strum' and 'Just' were featured on the soundtrack of
the film 'The Debut' in 2001. Around the summer of 2002, Basement 31 hit
the studio and started working on new materials. After seven years of on
and off recording , the new full-length 2nd indie album 'Come To Me' was
finally released on April 4, 2009 in New York City.
